Iran's Group Stage Record

Iran finished Group G unbeaten, three draws, no losses, no wins. They drew New Zealand 2-2 in their opener at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 15, held Belgium to a goalless draw in Los Angeles on June 21, and earned a further point against Egypt. All three teams above New Zealand in the final table finished without a defeat.

U.S.-Israel military action against Iran began on February 28, 2026. After the New Zealand opener, Ghalenoei told reporters his team had been instructed to leave the United States immediately after the match and return to Tijuana, calling Iran "perhaps the most oppressed team in the whole World Cup," according to ESPN.
