Jack Draper Loses to Humbert at Eastbourne

Ugo Humbert defeated Jack Draper 7–5, 6–3 in the Lexus Eastbourne Open semifinal on Friday 26 June 2026, ending the British left-hander's comeback run on the Frenchman's 28th birthday. The match lasted one hour, 41 minutes on Centre Court, according to the official ATP Eastbourne results page.

Draper's Eastbourne Run Ends at the Last Four

Draper had not played competitive tennis since retiring during his first-round match in Barcelona on 13 April 2026, a knee injury confirmed by ATP's comeback report keeping him out for more than two months. His return at Eastbourne produced three straight-sets wins before Friday's defeat.

He opened against lucky loser Marcos Giron, Brandon Nakashima had been his scheduled opponent before withdrawing, and won 6–4, 7–6(5). He followed that with a 7–5, 6–4 win over Jack Pinnington Jones, then dismantled Gabriel Diallo 6–1, 6–4 in the quarterfinal, converting four of nine break points in just over an hour.

Against Humbert, that momentum ran out. The Frenchman, Eastbourne's sixth seed, controlled both sets and moves into Saturday's final against Zizou Bergs, who beat British lucky loser Toby Samuel 4–6, 7–6(5), 6–2 in the other semifinal.
