The Chase That Needed Saving

Before Match 20 started, Washington Freedom had moved to the top of the MLC 2026 table by beating San Francisco Unicorns by five wickets in Match 19 earlier on 4 July San Francisco made 126 and Washington reached 129 for five in 18.1 overs. That victory put Washington and MI New York level on eight points, with Washington ahead on net run rate at that moment.

MI New York's win in Match 20 reversed that picture. Both teams remained on eight points, but MI New York's superior net run rate of +0.253 moved them above Washington, whose net run rate sat at -0.598.
