Ike Barinholtz Hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live! This Week

Ike Barinholtz stepped into the host's chair at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, July 13, 2026, opening his first-ever guest-hosting run on the ABC late-night program, with the official ABC schedule listing him through Thursday, July 16. Kimmel has taken every summer off since 2020 after negotiating it into his ABC contract.

Monday's Guests: A Mindy Project Reunion

Barinholtz opened the week alongside Mindy Kaling and Fortune Feimster three former cast members of The Mindy Project sharing a late-night stage nearly nine years after the Fox and Hulu comedy wrapped its final season in 2017.

The lineup was first reported by the outlet that covers late night, which noted that Barinholtz appeared in all six seasons of The Mindy Project as nurse Morgan Tookers. Kaling created, executive-produced, and starred in the series across its 117-episode run. Feimster joined in Season 4 as Colette Kimball-Kinney. The three had not appeared together on any formal public stage since the show ended.

Barinholtz and Kaling have worked together beyond the show. He appeared in Late Night, the 2019 film she wrote and starred in. Feimster is also a returning guest on Kimmel she guest-hosted the summer 2025 rotation herself.

Thursday's lineup adds a personal dimension. Barinholtz's father, Alan, and brother, Jon Barinholtz, are both scheduled alongside alt-country pioneer Jeff Tweedy as the musical guest. Alan Barinholtz is a familiar face alongside Ike the two won the $1 million top prize together on the ABC celebrity edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in August 2024, becoming the first father-son team to do so. Jon Barinholtz is an actor with credits including Superstore and American Auto.

Where Barinholtz Fits in the Summer Rotation

This is Barinholtz's first time in the Kimmel host chair, though he is a long-standing frequent guest on the show. The ABC announcement in June named five hosts for the rotation: Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, and Jelly Roll, with Rosie O'Donnell also announced separately by Kimmel on air as an additional guest host. Haddish opened the rotation the week of July 6. Barinholtz follows as the second confirmed host, with Colman Domingo scheduled for the week of July 20 and Anthony Anderson set for the week of August 10.

Reporting confirmed that Barinholtz and Domingo are the two first-time Kimmel guest hosts this summer. Anderson, Haddish, and Jelly Roll have all filled the seat before.

Barinholtz's television background extends well beyond The Mindy Project. He appeared in MADtv from 2002 to 2007 five seasons of the long-running sketch series and has had roles in The Afterparty, Running Point, The Studio, and a string of studio comedies including Neighbors and Blockers. His recent game-show record is notable: he won Celebrity Jeopardy! in 2023, reached the semifinal round of the 2024 Tournament of Champions, and then took home the $1 million prize on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire later that same year.

Kimmel's Ratings Heading Into the Break

Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 3.15 million viewers per night in June 2026 a 24% increase from May and the highest monthly ratings average in the show's 23-year run, according to licensed Nielsen Live+7 data. The adults 18–49 average for June came in at 505,000, up 112% month over month.

A Disney/ABC ratings release also confirmed the show ranked No. 1 across all of late night during the week of June 1, 2026, drawing 2.722 million total viewers.

Kimmel's contract, which ABC News reported was extended in December 2025, runs through at least May 2027. The show is expected to return to its regular hosting schedule after Labor Day.
